The Resurrection and the Life

April 9, 2023 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

“Don’t be afraid. I am the First and the Last, and the Living One. I was dead, but look— I am alive forever and ever, and I hold the keys of death and Hades.” —Revelation 1:17–18

Ever since the Fall, death has been an inevitable and painful part of life. Sooner or later, we all taste the grief it brings and face it ourselves.

But Jesus gives abundant, eternal life to those who place their trust in Him. He brings hope where there would otherwise be only despair. In Jesus, death is not final.

At the funeral of my youngest brother, David, the minister said, “We think of David as having gone from the land of the living to the land of the dead, but the fact is David has gone from the land of the dying to the land of the living.” That is the truth—for those who believe in Jesus.

He came to redeem not just our souls but our bodies as well. Every part and particle of our beings will one day share in His resurrection life.
