A Sure Expectation

“It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.” —Revelation 21:6

The world today is marked by realities that constantly overwhelm us: pain, suffering, and injustice. So, how can we look to the future with hope? Where do we find the strength to live after being shocked by news that is difficult to accept?

Revelation 21:1–6 gives us principles we can hang on to during dark times. It encourages us to affirm our minds and hearts with God’s promises. Today won’t last forever; there’s a sure promise that one day all of this will be changed and be made new.

This passage also reminds us that we are part of the Church of Christ. Even in our pain, we must unite to serve with our wounds, by being vulnerable and showing that our faith has not waned. When we’re willing to help others as part of God’s testimony and work in the midst of our weaknesses, it is edifying to those around us.

Hope is not something random. Rather it is a sure expectation that our present and future are secured in Christ.
