One Thing

“One thing is necessary.” —Luke 10:42

If you’re like most women, you’re busy. You play various roles in life and are constantly juggling multiple responsibilities. So, if the time comes when you have too much on your plate, how do you know what to keep and what to let go?

In a world that’s calling women to embrace it all and be successful in the home, ministry, and the marketplace, we’re pressured to be super women, super accomplishers . . . and super tired and super anxious.

Oh, how sweet are the words of Jesus in Luke 10! “You are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary.”

The many things you’re troubled with are hindering you from choosing the one thing that won’t be taken away. Your many earthly and temporary distractions are blinding you— preventing you from seeing what is eternally yours.

Unless you choose and treasure that one thing, you won’t get rid of the anxiety that silently con- sumes you. There is one thing that you should place before any other thing in life, and that one thing is Jesus.

Make it Personal

What distractions are filling your days, causing you stress and anxiety? How can you let go of them and choose Jesus instead?
