It’s Too High

October 5, 2021 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. —Proverbs 3:5

The first verse of Psalm 131 has become like a mantra in my life: “I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me.” I find myself in so many situations where I have to step back and say, “This is too high and great for me, so I’m not going to let my heart get upset over it.”

We want to be able to control everything, to figure it out and know why things are happening. We want to put all the puzzle pieces together. However, because God is God and we are not, there are bajillions of puzzle pieces that you and I will never, ever be able to put together this side of heaven.

In order to have a quiet heart, one of things you need is a heart of simplicity. A heart that says, “It’s okay not to be able to figure everything out. I don’t have to know or understand it all. I just need to trust the Lord.”

Make it Personal

What areas of life are you trying to control or figure out? Relinquish them to God and trust Him to put the pieces together.
