The Final Chapter

The child grew and became strong in spirit, and he was in the wilderness until the day of his public appearance to Israel. —Luke 1:80

When it comes to Elizabeth’s story, the Bible leaves out the details we’re dying to know. Did Elizabeth get to see her boy grow up? How did Elizabeth and Zechariah die? We don’t know, and yet Scripture isn’t as silent as it seems at first glance.

One of the things I love about the Lord is that He always writes the final chapter, and He knows it long before we can ever see it ourselves.

Elizabeth may have written her story very differently. She likely would have chosen to have children much earlier in life. And yet God wrote the story He had in mind for Elizabeth. He’s writing the story He has in mind for you as well.

Elizabeth waited for years to become a mother. And when all hope of the story she prayed for seemed lost, God intervened supernaturally, bringing an end to her disappointment in an extraordinary way. God had a plan for Elizabeth, and He has a plan for you.
