Don’t Take It for Granted

May 30, 2021 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

I will recount the steadfast love of the Lord, the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord has granted us. —Isaiah 63:7

When we read a passage like Isaiah 63, it can be hard to see the relevance for our lives. But this message written so long ago has much to say to us today. It’s a call to recount the steadfast love of the Lord toward you. To think about how He saved you.

Surely anyone in that position would be grateful—would adore Him and choose to submit to His authority. However, verse 7 tells us the Israelites “rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit.”

Could that also be said of us? If so, we will find ourselves at odds with God because “God opposes the proud” (James 4:6). But when He does, He’s wanting to win back and woo your heart. He wants to restore.

So, keep recounting the steadfast love of the Lord, the pity of God, the mercy of God, the grace of God. Don’t take it for granted. Thank Him for it. And then let the goodness of God bring you to repentance.

Make it Personal

Thank God for His covenant-keeping love and that He wants us to come to the point where we love nothing and no one more than Him.
