Conviction Equals Love

August 27, 2020 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

Do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kind- ness is meant to lead you to repentance? —Romans 2:4

When we’re experiencing conviction of sin, it’s not necessarily fun or easy, but it does show us something important—that God loves us.

The very fact that God reveals sin in our lives and urges us to repent is evidence of His great love, mercy, and kindness. Even in the life of a Christian, sin leads to destruction. Some- thing in our lives will break down as a result of unconfessed sin. God doesn’t want this for His children, and He will “wound” us temporarily, if necessary, in order to restore us. He won’t leave us on a path of destruction without giving us an opportunity to repent.

The best time for us to respond to God is at the moment of conviction. The longer we delay, the harder we resist His Spirit, the more difficult it becomes to humble ourselves and repent.

If you’re experiencing conviction about some sin, it’s evidence that God loves you. There’s no better time to respond than right now.

Make it Personal

Thank God that He loves you, offers grace to cover any sin, and longs for you to walk in freedom and joy.
