A Time to Weep

September 21, 2022 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

“Pour out your heart like water before the Lord’s presence. Lift up your hands to him for the lives of your children.” —Lamentations 2:19

It’s appropriate and important for us to lament and grieve the brokenness of our world. We should weep because this is not what God intended when He created this world and said, “It is good.”

We weep not just for our country but for our world. We weep not just for the world but for the Church. And we weep, grieve, and lament not just for the Church but for what God is exposing in our own hearts.

That’s really what it comes down to. Because I can’t solve my country’s problems or the world’s problems or all the Church’s problems. But I can let God deal with the problems in my own heart.

There’s a time for showing the truth of God’s Word and putting it up against our culture and our world. However, first we need to let God search our own hearts and show us where we may have contributed to the chaos and the brokenness.

Make it Personal

Ask God to search your heart to reveal if your words, actions, and attitudes are reflecting the heart of Jesus to this broken world.
