A High and Holy Calling

Her children rise up and call her blessed. —Proverbs 31:28

Kari was in her mid-thirties when she attended a True Woman conference. She was a devoted Christian and mother of seven who obviously valued children. Yet during that weekend, the Lord exposed anger and frustration that had been building up in her heart. Without realizing it, she had harbored a sense that her husband, children, and even God had drained away opportunities and freedoms from her.

Through the teaching of His Word, God renewed Kari’s passion for motherhood. He had rekindled her zeal for what He’d given her to do. He can do the same for you.

No, the fresh winds of truth won’t stop your toddler from throwing up the morning of vacation or bring a prodigal child to his senses. Parenting is demanding, complex, and short on immediate rewards, no matter how passionate you are about it.

But if you’re a mother—or involved in nurturing children—remember you’ve got a vital calling and ministry right there in the house with you. Your efforts in raising those little ones for His glory are not—and will not be—in vain.

Pray that God would grow a passion in the hearts of mothers you know for the calling of motherhood.
