Summer Book Club: My Top 2 Beauty Secrets

You did it! If you’ve been following our Summer Book Club, you’ve made it through ten weeks of study from True Woman 201: Interior Design. The theme of this week’s study is beauty. Check out the video below for my top two beauty secrets.

My Best Beauty Secrets

True beauty comes from displaying the attractiveness of the gospel.

True beauty comes from displaying the attractiveness of the gospel. That may not be something you see on the cover of a magazine, but it is the only kind of beauty that truly lasts. How can you showcase that kind of beauty? Here are my top two beauty secrets straight out of God’s Word.

1. Live for Jesus, not the person in the mirror.

Write this verse on your bathroom mirror. Stitch it into your makeup bag. Write it on your hand if you have to.

Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised (Prov. 31:30).

Outer beauty simply cannot last. The only way to display lasting beauty is to live the life that Jesus calls you to.

2. Give yourself the pedicure that lasts forever.

I started my summer with a pedicure, but already my bright pink piggies are starting to chip and fade. Fortunately, God’s Word gives instructions for a different kind of pedicure.

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news (Isa. 52:7).

When I get busy telling people about Jesus, I am transformed to a more beautiful version of me. From the top of my head to the tips of my toes, it’s what I do for God and others that defines my beauty, not who I see when I look in the mirror. Psalm 45:11 is one of my favorite beauty verses:

Let the king be enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord.

Enthralled means:

  • to put in bondage
  • enslave
  • to hold spellbound

How do I hold the God of the universe spellbound? By living like He has called me to live and telling others about all that He has done for me. No amount of sit-ups or trips to the salon can get the same result.

It’s what I do for God and others that defines my beauty, not who I see when I look in the mirror.

So as we close the cover of our study, I want you to know that you are beautiful because the Creator of the universe has given you great value and called you to a big mission. Will you have the beautiful feet that come from sharing that news with others?
