One Thing We’re Loving: God's Compassion

What’s one thing we’re loving this week? It’s this brand-new Revive Our Hearts booklet, Uncommon Compassion: Revealing the Heart of Christ, by one of our favorites, Erin Davis! From the Garden to the Gospels, from Genesis to Revelation, the Bible is a scrapbook filled with snapshots of God’s compassion. Discover the compassionate heart of God in Uncommon Compassion and let His compassion move you to put your love for others into action. Did you know that God doesn’t stare at you with scolding eyes? No, friend, He sees you with compassionate eyes. If you want to learn what this compassion looks like, I would encourage you to grab a copy of Uncommon Compassion. It’s a short and easy read, but it packs a punch of comforting truth! Here’s a sneak peek at some of my favorite snippets:

Though we are wayward, God is faithful. Though we are weak and deserving of judgment, God is compassionate toward us. God is not indifferent or apathetic to our weakness. Rather He responds to our inadequacy with lovingkindness. Because He is compassionate, God will not allow us to stay in our sin and continue to run away from Him. When you doubt God’s grace or fret He won’t show compassion to you again, consider the lengths He went to demonstrate His deep love. When sin has consequences we can’t escape from, when it seems that death has had the final say, Jesus moves toward us with compassion.
