Good morning. Jesus is mocked, crucified, and buried—and then He rises, just as He said. On the road to Emmaus, He opens the Scriptures and the eyes of discouraged disciples, setting their hearts ablaze with hope.
Before you begin
Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Review
Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.
Reflect
Lord, open our eyes as we walk with You that we might understand the Scriptures and recognize Your presence among us. Thank You for making Yourself known to Your people—then and now—in the midst of shattered dreams and hopes. By Your Spirit, quicken our hearts to receive Your Word and fellowship with You. —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1
