Read through the Bible, Day 294

Good morning. Jesus calls His followers to a radical way of life: loving not only those who love us but also our enemies. God’s kingdom turns the world’s values upside down, inviting us to extend love and forgiveness beyond what feels natural as we follow Christ’s example.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

Luke 5–6

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

Who have you been refusing to forgive, and what keeps you from extending forgiveness? Consider how following Christ in this area could help you experience more of His peace and freedom.

To forgive someone throws open the blinds and raises the windows, letting the fresh breezes of God’s grace begin its healing work. But when we take the deliberate step to bless our offenders—to love our enemies—we are able to enter into the full power of forgiveness. —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
