Read through the Bible, Day 235

In today’s reading, we see that God’s judgment is not arbitrary but the righteous response of a holy God, whose presence cannot dwell among persistent sin.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

Ezekiel 5–8

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

How does witnessing God’s grief and anger over sin in these chapters deepen your understanding of how you should grieve your own sin?

I am convinced that periodically every believer needs to be given a fresh glimpse of the corruption of indwelling sin, apart from which the mercy, the grace, and the cross of Christ cease to be precious in our eyes. —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
