Today we finish the book of Jeremiah. In this section, Jeremiah reminds Israel that the Lord is their Redeemer and Avenger before recounting the fall of Jerusalem, the destruction of the temple, and the exile to Babylon—fulfilling all that Jeremiah had prophesied earlier. The book closes with a glimmer of hope in King Jehoiachin’s release from prison.

The Lord is described in this passage as both Redeemer and Avenger. Take a few minutes to list instances throughout the book of Jeremiah where you have seen these characteristics of the Lord. Then reflect on and jot down ways you have witnessed Him display these qualities in your own life.
