In today’s passage, we see the people seek Jeremiah’s counsel only to reject it, choosing disobedience to the Lord’s command and bringing judgment upon themselves as a result.

Reflect
As the Lord pronounced judgment in Jeremiah 44:7, He asked, “Why are you doing such terrible harm to yourselves?” Disobedience to His commands always brings harm. Are there areas in your life where you have been convicted of disobeying the Lord? Take a moment to ask Him to help you walk in obedience to Him and His Word.

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
