Read through the Bible, Day 197

As you begin Isaiah, you enter in the midst of a lawsuit against Judah. The Lord used His messenger Isaiah to indict His covenant people. Amid warnings of judgment for those who continue to rebel, God offers forgiveness to those who repent and promises a beautiful and glorious future restoration.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

Isaiah 1–4

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

How does the shift from judgment to hope in these chapters shape the way you understand and read the whole section?

The innocent Son of God shed His blood for sinners, and His blood is on our hands. Our sins are as scarlet. They are red like crimson. Yet God promises, “You can be white as snow.” —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
