Read through the Bible, Day 196

In this section, you’ll notice a shift in the tone as the bride is separated from her beloved and searches for him. Amid the tension, we are reminded that “love is as strong as death.”

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

The bride shows vulnerability and honesty about her emotions. How can you bring your true feelings—your longings, fears, and hopes—before God without hesitation?

God loves us with a permanent, unquenchable, inextinguishable love. That means there is nothing you can do to cause Him to love you less. There’s nothing you can do to cause Him to love you any more. And that’s how He wants to love others through you, with passionate, permanent, persevering love. —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
