Read through the Bible, Day 184

Today we’re reminded that folly—no matter how seductive it seems—ultimately leads to destruction and regret. But while the path of the wicked is like the darkest gloom, “the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, shining brighter and brighter until midday” (Prov. 4:18).

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

Proverbs 4–7

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

In what areas of life do you struggle with impulse or desire? Ask the Lord to help you walk in His wisdom today.

The more ground you concede to sin, the more you dull your capacity for truth. —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
