Read through the Bible, Day 170

Today we begin the third book of the psalms and are reminded that, although we may not understand why God allows the wicked to prosper, His presence remains our greatest good.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

Psalms 70–74

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

Psalm 71 spans a lifetime—from birth to old age. What blessing can you gain by “listening in” as older saints praise the Lord and cry out for His help?

O Lord, place upon me whatever burdens and afflictions You know will make my heart humble and holy before You. Amen. —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
