Read through the Bible, Day 165

Our journey through the psalms continues today with five psalms that remind us that our only hope is found in the name of the Lord our God.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

Psalms 40–44

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

When was the last time you boasted in the name of the Lord to someone else? Take a moment to pray for boldness today, asking God to give you courage to publicly praise Him and share the hope found in His name.

The Psalms reveal that the only ultimate answer to trouble, grief, pain, and loss is a constant returning to God in worship and gratitude. Every other semi-solution proves empty and short-lived, incapable of infusing real hope into life’s unbearable situations. —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
