Today we begin reading the book of Job. In chapters 1–4, Job, a righteous and prosperous man, experiences immense loss and suffering when Satan, with God’s permission, tests his faith. Amid his grief, Job responds with sorrow and worship, while his friends begin to offer their perspectives on his circumstances.

In Job 1:12, the Lord grants Satan permission to afflict Job, reminding us that God is all-powerful and that Satan is not. How does this truth comfort you today?
