Read through the Bible, Day 114

Even though Hezekiah faced terrifying threats from the Assyrian empire, he didn’t give in to fear. Instead, he turned to the Lord in prayer and trusted His Word—and God answered by defeating the enemy in a single night.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

2 Kings 18–19

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

When fear or pressure surrounds you, where do you place your trust—in yourself, outside sources, or God? What would it look like to intentionally shift your focus to trust Him first?

"O Lord, rather than cowering in fear or running headlong into confrontation, may my reflexive reaction be to turn to You. May attacks from unbelievers become opportunities for earnest, humble prayer. And may my goal always be that all the nations of the earth will come to know and worship You. Amen." —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
