Read through the Bible, Day 107

As 1 Kings comes to an end, it may seem as though there’s nothing good that could be said about this era in Israel’s history. But there were still people in the land who had refused to bow the knee to Baal. This was merely one chapter in the much bigger story God was writing for His people.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

1 Kings 21–22

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

In what ways do you see truth and faithfulness preserved today even amid widespread failure or corruption?

"O Lord, in every decision I make and in the counsel I give to others, may I be led by a love of truth and kept free from deception. May I speak only that which is in accord with Your sovereign purposes and will. Amen." —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
