Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: What would you think of a novel where the main character goes through difficult or unusual circumstances only to come out unchanged, without having learned anything?

Man: [reading to a child] Frodo had an important job to do. So he took the bad ring and threw it into a volcano. The end.

Nancy: Disappointing, right?

Well, that applies to your story, too. God isn’t about giving you an uneventful joyride to heaven. His story for you is about changing you to be like Him, and that won’t happen without some hard things.

So, how do we respond to what He’s writing? Well first, look up and be strengthened by a vision of God’s purposes. And then, look ahead. Hold fast to His promises, and hope will spring up in your heart.
