Thankfulness and Praise

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: We teach our children to be grateful.

Man: Okay, what do you say?

Child: (child with mouth full) Thank you.

Nancy: But do we have a grateful heart ourselves? It’s so easy to forget to say, "Thank you," to God.

Jesus once cured ten lepers, telling them to go verify their healing with the priest.

Luke’s Gospel tells us that "one of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him" (17:15–16). Jesus wondered why the other nine didn't say thank you. He said, "Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?" (v. 18).

I think we're too often like one of those nine lepers. God has delivered us from the awful disease of sin, and praise should be our natural response. But so many times, we just forget.

How long has it been since you stopped to thank Jesus for all He has done for you?
