Superhero of Superheroes

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Our culture is fascinated with superheroes—brave men and women equipped with incredible abilities to rescue the world from darkness and evil. Well, millenia ago the Old Testament foretold of the coming of the Superhero of superheroes—the Lord Jesus.

The opening chapters of Isaiah say, “To us a son is given . . . and his name shall be called . . . Mighty God” (9:6).

Christ is truly mighty. He is able to free people from oppression. He transforms gloom and anguish into joy. He has all the strength needed to intervene, redeem, deliver, and save.

Too often we try to be our own superheroes; we want to save ourselves. But Christ is infinitely more capable!

This Christmas season, are you trying to carry your burdens without Christ’s help? Trust him. He is your Mighty God.
