Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Do you ever show someone love so they’ll love you back?
Woman: I know! I’ll make him his favorite meal, and then talk about my vacation ideas.
Nancy: Years ago, I heard this definition of godly love: Love is totally giving of myself to meet the needs of another person, without expecting anything in return.
Think about God the Father. He loved us, it says in Romans, while we were still His enemies! And He gave us His very best, His only Son. That’s truly amazing, unconditional love!
So do we love that way? No secret, hidden desire for our love to be reciprocated? No serving so that others will love us in return? Again, genuine love is totally giving of myself, for the benefit and the good of another person, without expecting to get anything in return.
Let’s ask God to help us love the way He loves: no strings attached.
