Inevitable

Woman: I felt like a robot Christian. You know, [stilted] looking like a Christian. But I totally shut God out of my life. I know that it all started with some hurts that I just never really dealt with.

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: We’ve all been wounded by others. Hurt and pain are inevitable. Of course those hurts affect our lives, but they have no power to control who we become. The outcome of our lives is determined by our response to hurt.

When you're wounded, you can respond like a debt collector—trying to keep the other person locked in a kind of prison. The problem is you’ll end up in bondage yourself. Or by God’s grace, you can choose to forgive. And forgiveness will set you free from bitterness and anger.
