God's Goal

Woman: It seems like as soon as I repent from one thing, God brings another area of sin to my attention. I guess I’m glad, but wow! This holiness thing is just so hard!

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Do you know what? Holiness is something we never want to stop thinking about. There are a lot of important reasons to pursue holiness. One of them is that that’s God’s ultimate goal for us. He didn’t save us just to make our short time on this earth easier. He wants to make us holy as He is holy, so we can perfectly glorify Him and enjoy Him forever.

First John 3 gives us this amazing promise, that, “When he appears we will be like him, for we will see him as he is.”

John goes on: “Everyone who has this hope . . . purifies himself, just as he is pure” (vv. 2–3).

So, from now until we see Jesus, let’s keep cooperating with God in His eternal goal to make us holy.
