God Gives the Desire

Woman: I’ve always known I was supposed to read the Bible and pray. But for the last couple of weeks it’s been more meaningful. I wake up praying, and I’m understanding the Bible more.

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: That kind of desire is God-initiated. He’s the one who gives us a hunger for Himself.

During the time of the prophet Hosea, the people of Israel had lost their heart for God. The Lord said, “Return, O Israel, to the LORD your God, for you have stumbled because of your iniquity” (14:1).

God calls us to return, too. We’re not any better than the Israelites, but God doesn’t call us because we’ve got everything under control. He calls us because He loves us.

God wants to give you a fresh heart and hunger for Himself. He’s calling you to return to Him, to start seeking Him with all your heart.

With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
