Desert Rebellion

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: The way you handle a desert experience may influence how long the dry time will last. When God rescued the children of Israel from Egypt, He immediately took them into the desert. He wasn’t punishing them. He was just preparing them for the battles ahead—teaching them to rely on Him.

Instead of trusting God and submitting to His will, the Israelites rebelled and refused to believe God’s promises. The Scriptures tells us, “The Lord’s anger burned against Israel and He made them wander in the desert forty years.” If they had just trusted God in the first place, their wandering would have been far shorter.

Maybe you feel pretty dry right now—like you’re in a desert. You can either doubt and complain like the children of Israel did, or you could do what they should have done—trust God and follow Him. He’ll lead you out of the desert at just the right time.
