We were made for one thing: to behold Jesus. But we’re so easily distracted by lesser things. In her spoken word poem, Blair Linne confronts fickle hearts with gospel truth, reintroducing you to the Savior you were made to know and believe in.

Behold.
See the One
Who was in the beginning, before anything was made.
Before any created glimmer or spark
There was an unmade Light that will never fade,
The One who is the benchmark.
Mark my words—
Better yet, mark His remarks.
He is remarkable.
Not only is creation filled with His markings,
We are earmarked with His trademark,
Having our question marks clarified by His quotation marks,
Period!
He is the beginning and the end, period.
He is not restrained by time, period.
He knows the past, present, and future with accuracy—
The eternal moves miraculously,
Crafted over two trillion galaxies.
Also knew how He would design you and me to a tee.
This is Our Creator,
See!
He saw us, but when it comes to Him, we …

Also knew how He would design you and me to a tee.
This is Our Creator,
See!
He saw us, but when it comes to Him, we act as though we cannot see
Despite His invisible qualities being clearly seen.
We would rather telescope our attention on squares we call stars on a screen,
And so, John Doe, eclipses John 3:16.
But where are those who say, “I stan, because of His stanzas! I stan.”
Or should we say, "We fall before the Son of man"?
He moonlit stars, which He spoke, saying, let there be,
Placed each galaxy to the exact degree.
It's a tragedy when we fail to accurately see who is behind this gravity,
The gravitas.
When we ignore the glory due Him, it is scandalous.
Rather than behold Him,
We prefer to fix our eyes on lesser things, how blasphemous,
To worship the image bearer rather than the God who crafted us.
Our vision is blurry because our sight is too often beholden to us.
We are impressed with Stars on red carpets
When we literally have One who is the Light.
The cause of everything in our sight.
Path straight and narrow
Was dyed red, by His blood shed.
Take your eyes off of I, and put it on the I AM!
He who created your iris
Were not man-made idols tamed in the mind of finite men.
He was not made like the celebrity or influencer we choose to listen to over Him.
He was not made.
He is not temporarily sustained by likes, but eternally moves out of love.
He was not made—
All things were made through Him.
He is God, yet took on the form of a maid—
A servant to show His love to us again and again.
He is a humble image of the invisible God.
See, the picture was dark and void.
Apple, captured on an Android.
A fruit,
A fall from glory.
If I could expose you to an instant depiction,
A Polaroid to personally hold in your hand
You would see what Adam held in his hands
Then zoom into the holes in the second Adam's hands.
The way this prolific figure demolished this negative,
It would positively make you shudder.
A picture of this royal victor crushing the head of a viper,
Document His holy fruit and how He is—The Word.
A holy blade to cut and slice our sinful life and nature.
Disrupt our world and bring revival to our staunch indifference
That we might regain our sight and peel the opaque film from over our eyes.
That we might see and believe!
Hold holy in our mind now.
Not who we think He is
Who He says He is
Who is Jesus?
Allow me to reintroduce the Christ,
The Messiah.
Living in the unity of the Godhead,
100% God. 100% man.
All perfect, yet with scars.
Tempted, yet without sin.
Most wise. Most holy. Most free.
Most loving. Incarnated ministry.
Jesus is the mystery.
Merciful. Long-suffering. Forgiving iniquity.
The rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
Behold and believe
Even when your grip feels weak.
His arms are strong enough to hold you fast
Until He comes again to take the Church home at last.
He is on His throne.
This Lion and Lamb.
So, take your eyes off of I, and put it on the I AM.
