Stop Complaining

November 14, 2025 Yamell Jaramillo

This is the day the LORD has made; let’s rejoice and be glad in it. —Psalm 118:24

God’s Word calls us to a life of praise, but often we spend more time complaining. We praise Him when everything goes well, but at the slightest inconvenience, we complain and behave as if we don’t know the God who can do everything.

However, God gives us different instructions. He tells us to “[give] thanks always for everything to God the Father” (Eph. 5:20). And “give thanks in everything; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thess. 5:18).

If this is God’s will for us, then when we choose to complain or be ungrateful, we’re disobeying Him. Therefore, the message we send to the world is no different than that of someone who doesn’t know Him. We end up looking more like the world of darkness than reflecting the kingdom of light.

Take a moment to think about the last eleven months. What stands out? Have your days been filled with more complaints than with praise? Ask God to renew your heart so that it overflows with gratitude.
