I have treasured the words from his mouth more than my daily food. —Job 23:12
The number one priority for every Christian in every season of life is our walk with God. Everything else flows from that. If we’re too busy to nurture our relationship with God, then we’re too busy.
So, don’t try navigating a single day without spending time in Scripture, listening to Him speak, and getting to know His heart.
The practice of centering our lives and days around seeking Him was first impressed on me by my dad who took this so seriously that his practice was, “No Bible, no breakfast.” Even if the typical demands of your morning preclude you from opening the Word first thing, be sure to set aside time each day to reorient your life around the Lord.
As you do, ask yourself if knowing and glorifying God is the chief reason you draw breath. Based on the way you spend your time, is He your true priority? The more consistently you spend time in His Word, the more your answer to that question will bring joy to His heart. And yours.
