“Your fame spread among the nations because of your beauty, for it was perfect through my splendor, which I had bestowed on you.” —Ezekiel 16:14
Many believers carry around a nagging sense of worthlessness. In contrast, Scripture reveals the great value God places on us: from the point of our creation, He has lavished upon us His extravagant love.
God’s heart for His chosen people is seen in Ezekiel 16—a picture of His finding them naked like a helpless baby. Yet He reached down and “spread the edge of my garment over you and covered your nakedness. I pledged myself to you, entered into a covenant with you . . . and you became mine” (v. 8).
What does this say about the worth God places on His chosen ones? He saw us in our wretched condition and sent His beloved Son to this earth, to die on the cross to purchase our redemption. He has rescued us and poured out His favor on us. So, when tempted to feel insignificant, bask in the Father’s great love for you and worship Him for His amazing grace.
