“Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.” —John 17:17
We’ve all got our feelings. We’ve all got our wants and wishes for how we’d like our lives to go. But the battle we experience here on earth is often what motivates us to look up and see the truth in a way we might never have taken time to notice it otherwise. To see the truth and be changed by it. Captured by it. Inspired by it. Blessed by it.
Lies are everywhere around us—powerful, pervasive, that surely there’s more truth in what the world says than in what God says. Insisting that “your truth” is what really matters.
We have God’s Word of truth, which sustains us, supports us, strengthens us, secures us. Truth is our superpower, our weapon in battle (Eph. 6:17). Yes, sometimes we’re exhausted from the battle and sometimes we hurt so deeply. But then we recalibrate our lives according to God’s truth, as revealed to us in living Scripture and daily enlivened for us by the indwelling Holy Spirit. And somehow, in that truth, we find the strength to keep on fighting.
