Never Alone

Who do I have in heaven but you? And I desire nothing on earth but you. —Psalm 73:25

Another fear that can threaten our complete surrender to God is the fear of how it might threaten our personal relationships: “Will my relational needs be met?”

It’s true that God may lead us into solitude for a season. But His Word reveals that an intimate relationship with Him forms the true basis for the richest of human relationships. Having fellowship “with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ” makes it possible to enjoy authentic “fellowship with one another” (1 John 1:3, 7).

If we do not value God as our primary relationship, we will always live in fear of losing human relationships, setting ourselves up for being possessive, controlling, manipulative, and jealous.

Throughout Scripture, whenever one of His children was fearful to step out alone without human support, God’s simple response was, “I will be with you.” The implication was, “I am enough. If you have Me, you have everything you need.” The man or woman who trusts His promises can never truly be alone.
