He Sings Over You

November 13, 2025 Blair Linne

“There will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who don’t need repentance.” —Luke 15:7

From the moment a sinner becomes God’s child, he or she enters God’s gladness. His gladness is that which burns just as brightly today upon his Son and all who are in the Son as it has in eternity past. It is his joy to save and sustain us. . . .

If you are in Christ, God sings over you. You may have never received encouraging words from your earthly father or heard those three words, “I love you,” . . . but God serenades us, celebrating the fact that we are his. . . . His is a greater delight than most fathers have when they first lay eyes on their newborn child. He loves us. He is not bringing up our past sins, for he has removed them as far as the east is from the west. We are his holy children. At the moment of salvation the singing begins, and it will crescendo into a climax when we are with him in heaven.1
