Finding Freedom

March 3, 2026 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

For freedom, Christ set us free. Stand firm, then, and don’t submit again to a yoke of slavery. —Galatians 5:1

I hear from so many women who feel enslaved to sinful habit patterns and destructive behaviors. They thought faith in Christ would be enough to drive these intruders away. They hear testimonies of people set free by the rescuing power and mercy of Christ, but that’s not been their experience.

They may have experienced seasons of victory, hoping this thing was put away for good. But then one day, a familiar temptation snuck back in. And before they knew it, they were enslaved again.

Our enemy would have us believe we can’t be free, that we’ll always be prisoners to our habits and addictions, that even God Himself isn’t strong enough to help us conquer what we’ve not been able to overcome.

But let me remind you, God’s Word is filled with promises intended to fuel hope, expectation, perseverance, and triumph. Repeatedly it declares that no matter how enslaving your sin has been (and can sometimes continue to be), it’s no match for the overcoming power of the Spirit of God.
