Christ’s Record, Not Yours

October 16, 2025 Betsy Gómez

He made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. —2 Corinthians 5:21

Imagine going on a bike ride, ready to enjoy the beautiful landscape. But instead of looking at the scenery, you focus on watching your bike as you pedal. What happens? You lose your balance, crash, and fall. The same thing is true in your devotional life. When you focus on plans and routines, you miss the true richness that lies before you.

So, what defines your communion with God? What puts a green light between you and your Creator? Is it your consistency in devotional times? Absolutely not.

As a Christian, the only thing that defines your access to the Father is Christ’s work on your behalf. Jesus did everything right, took the punishment you deserved, and received all of God’s wrath. And when He rose again, He gave you new life.

Even when you feel like a mess because you didn’t accomplish what you had planned in your devotions, His record of perfection is in your favor every day.

What are you relying on to be “right” with God—your devotional routine or Christ’s finished work?
