Moses took a tent and pitched it outside the camp, at a distance from the camp; he called it the tent of meeting. —Exodus 33:7
Before the tabernacle was constructed, Moses used to take a tent and pitch it outside the camp, calling it the “tent of meeting,” where people would go to inquire of the Lord. This special meeting place was set up away from the crowd, reserved for meeting with God.
I’ve found it helpful to set apart in my home a place for meeting with God. In one corner of my study sits a comfortable chair on a slightly raised platform. That chair has become my quiet time chair. It is my tent of meeting—a place where I go to meet with God. Even when I travel, I seek to establish a tent of meeting in my heart—a quiet place away from the crowd where I can be alone with God.
Your tent of meeting may be a bathroom, a closet, a hallway, or even a vehicle. The important thing is that you find a place where you can meet alone with your heavenly Bridegroom.
