A Love for God’s Word

February 10, 2025 Blair Linne

I have seen the disloyal and feel disgust because they do not keep your word. —Psalm 119:158

Usually we emphasize being most upset at our own sins—rightly, because we are so prone to self-righteousness. But truthfully, we should be grieved at all sin, because it is all done against our Lord. The psalmist is grieved by sin. He hates that there are people who are given to sin instead of trust in God and obedience to his word. . . . He loves God so much that he is disgusted by those who do not acknowledge God and his commands. . . .

Do you love God’s word? . . . Is God’s word your delight? Love for God’s word is a mercy of God, and in the midst of trials, loving him is a sign that you belong to him. . . . We cannot take credit for the supernatural work of God. We humbly ask God to do in us what we cannot work in ourselves. Once he does it, we ask for more! Then ask for more still! 1
