A Lifetime of Devotion

October 26, 2025 Betsy Gómez

In Christ Jesus, you who were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. —Ephesians 2:13

In light of Christ’s liberating work on our behalf, devotion to Him isn’t something to be confined to a half-hour task—it’s meant to last a lifetime. There’s no way to do “your devotions” and mark it off a to-do list, because our devotion to Christ should never end.

His praise should always be on our lips. As we go about our day—walking, working, and even sitting in silence—we can bring our requests to Him. We run to His Word not because it’s a duty but because it’s there that we find life.

Should we have discipline in our daily devotions? Of course! But we should view it not as a task we do to be right with God but as an opportunity to enjoy Him. And when we feel discouraged or frustrated with ourselves for falling short, let us return to the cross and find at His feet a thousand more reasons to continue giving all our devotion to the only One who deserves it: Christ.

How would your daily rhythms change if you viewed devotion to Christ as a lifelong relationship rather than a task to complete?
