Testify!

"And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son" (1 John 5:11). Nothing beats a good testimony. Here's mine. I grew up in a good home with a believing mom and an unbelieving dad. I was in church often, but never connected the dots between what we were doing in Sunday school and my own need for a Savior. When I was ten, my parents split up. Later that same year my mom asked my brother and sister and I if we wanted to get baptized. We did. The only thing I remember about that day is the presents I got. I didn't understand the spiritual significance of that event. When I felt lonely or afraid or anxious, I would sometimes read a Precious Moments Bible that someone gave me on the date of that baptism. Most of what I read didn't make any sense to me. When I was 15 my family (mom, stepdad, brother, and sister) visited a new church for the first time. The youth pastor approached my sister and I and asked us to go on a youth trip the next day (I think he failed to mention that it was a 17-hour bus ride). We agreed, and the next day we hopped on a bus with a bunch of people we didn't know to head to camp. The first night of camp my heart felt like it was going to beat out of my chest. The altar call couldn't happen fast enough. As soon as the pastor gave the invitation, I raced down the aisle. He asked me why I had come down, and I said "I don't know." An altar counselor prayed with me and told me how to accept Jesus as my Savior. I did. Jesus has been shaking things up in my heart and life ever since. P.S. Since that transformation God has given me a passion for His Word and helped me to understand it. Cool, huh?
