Read through the Bible, Day 89

Today we finish 1 Samuel. In this section, David rescues his captured people and possessions from the Amalekites, while Saul is defeated by the Philistines and dies in battle. The book ends with David’s rise and Saul’s tragic fall.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

1 Samuel 30–31

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

Chapter 30 verse 6 says, “But David found strength in the LORD his God.” Practically speaking, what does it look like to find your strength in the Lord your God?

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
