Read through the Bible, Day 88

In today's reading, David lives among the Philistines and gains King Achish’s trust, but is sent away before their battle with Israel. Meanwhile, Saul prepares to face the Philistines without David by his side and consults a medium about the Lord turning away from him.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

1 Samuel 27–29

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

When you need counsel, do you turn to God given avenues and trust the Lord with the outcomes? Or do you take matters into your own hands and seek to create comfort for yourself?

"When we come to God and ask Him to meet our daily needs, for pardon for our sins, and for protection from evil, we will never tax His power. No matter what situation we may face, God has the power to protect us from it and help us through it." —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
