Read through the Bible, Day 87

In today's passage, David spares Saul’s life twice, refusing to harm the Lord’s anointed. He also shows wisdom and restraint with Nabal, while Abigail’s intervention prevents bloodshed, revealing David’s growing trust in God’s justice.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

1 Samuel 24–26

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

When evil is committed against you, do you seek out revenge? Or do you trust the Lord to bring justice in His timing?

"Abigail couldn’t control her husband. She couldn’t control David. But she could control herself, and by being wise with what she said and how she said it, she was able to convince David to change directions." —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
