Read through the Bible, Day 69

Today we finish the book of Joshua! In this final section, Joshua urges Israel to remain faithful to God, and renews the covenant at Shechem, calling the people to choose whom they will serve. The book ends with Joshua’s death and a reaffirmation that Israel served the Lord throughout his lifetime and that of the elders who outlived him.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

Joshua 22–24

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

In Joshua 23:11, Joshua tells Israel, “diligently watch yourselves! Love the LORD your God!” What might it look like to “watch yourself” so that you continue to love the Lord with all that is in you?

"O Lord, You have always been with me; You have never left or abandoned me; and not a single one of Your promises has failed. I worship and praise You with all my heart. May my life and words testify to my generation and those to come, of Your faithfulness. Amen." —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
