Read through the Bible, Day 56

Over and over again, Moses warns God’s people against idolatry and occult practices, reminding them that there is only one true God. They were to reject false gods and deceptive influences and be devoted to the Lord and discerning about what is true.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

Deuteronomy 17–20

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

Ask God to show you if you’ve let anything become a false god in your life. How can you keep your worship centered solely on Him?

"When Moses foretold the coming of this Prophet, he said: “You must listen to him” (Deut. 18:15). And God further warned: 'I will hold accountable whoever does not listen to my words that he speaks in my name' (v. 19)." —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
